69 Enduro Question

Hey guys new here have a question for ya's. I was finially able to get my bike started but its making a weird noise. The bikes a 69 Enduro with elect start. It hasn't been ran since like 1980 so its been sitting a good while. My dad thinks it might be the starter. I don't have the oil tank hooked up so that could have something to do with it as well. I was using a gas mix just to see if I could get it to run. I also have the case off the side so i could get to the points which might be a problem to maybe its a normal sound just louder beings the case is off.
