Bike Investigation Service via Club Members

Most people are involved with buying and selling vintage bikes over the internet through E-bay or other sources. Logically, you don't always get what you pay for, or what is offered or shown in advertising photos. Thus, as members of the VJEMC, we are creating a member network where we can help each other in examining bikes that you may be looking to purchase that are in the area of a current club member for a fee of $50 (or an agreed upon fee between the two parties.)

As an example, let's say a member in Pennsylvania is looking to buy a bike on E-bay from a party in Wisconsin. That member could make arrangements with the Wisconsin member and the seller to allow the Wisconsin member to go to that person's home and inspect the bike to see if it is worth purchasing. The fee paid, in this case, would be to cover any gas expenses going back and forth (depending on the distance) to check out this bike for the member. Likely, most members would also be happy to include a few dollars for a meal and time spent as well if they were serious about the bike. Of course, this fee can be negotiated between club members. (or even a trade made for parts, other services, etc...?) If it was too distant for one Wisconsin member, perhaps it would be closer to one of our other field reps/members in Wisconsin who could check it out, and this person would steer the Pennsylvania member accordingly.
