Hello Mark,
Please see the attached photos of my bike for consideration for
your Monthly Vintage Spotlight feature.
My name is Ryan and this is my 1972 Suzuki T350 Rebel with
14,600 miles on the clock. It's the middle child to the T250
Hustler and T500 Titan, and like your typical middle child,
often gets overlooked! I have been owner of this bike since May
of 2009 and try to let it out and eat a few times a week.
I had been looking for an old stroker for some time and really
got the urge for some old steel after my father brought home an
SR500 on Mother's Day (for him, not mom), after all, you can't
be outdone by the old man! It looks much the same as the day I
brought it home, and other than the attention any bike this age
needs, it's required nothing out of the ordinary. It was
repainted by a previous owner to a more modern Zook
yellow/silver, and the original chrome is pretty rust free and
shines up nicely. I am not sure exactly how many owners the bike
has had throughout the years, but its apparent that this bike
has been cared for nicely by its previous owners.
She fires right up and runs like a peach, and I would be lying
if I said the tachometer needle doesn't make regular trips to
the right side or the gauge. People that know old bikes get a
real kick out of it, everyone remarks about how they haven't
heard "that sound" in awhile; I've yet to meet a true gear head
that does not appreciate a 2 stroke on the pipe! Those that
don't get it, well, you know. My plans for the future include
some rearsets and maybe a cafe seat and upgrading the stock 35W
headlight to something a little brighter. I'v had things from
modern sport bikes to a 28' Model A roadster with a quad-carbed
Oldsmobile V-8, and this bike is up there in terms of the fun
factor, and that's what it's all about.
Thanks for the consideration and see you in Seymour,
Ryan Worzella
