Hey Mark -
The 1988
Ducati Paso 750 Limited in the picture is one of two imported
into Wisconsin by Mitch Hansen of Hansen Harley Davidson. It
sounds odd, but at the time Harley dealers could sell other
brands of bikes. Mr. Hansen had an affinity for Italian
motorcycles, so a corner of the showroom was devoted to these
bikes.
There were between 150 to 200 of
the blue limited’s built worldwide, but no one knows for sure
because of lax record keeping at the factory. This being
brought on by the internal struggle between Cagiva (the new
owners) and the principles of Ducati.
The bike got its name from Renzo
Pasolini. They used the last four letters of his last name as
an enduring memorial. He died as the result of a crash in
Monza, at the 1973 Italian Grand Prix
This particular bike is
apparently rare as I had it at Elkhart Lake, and parked it by
the Ducati tent full of Ducatitsi and factory reps, suddenly the
tent emptied. I thought some bikes had tipped over, and I
feared the worst, seeing people gathered where I parked the
bike. The bike was upright and the Ducati factory reps were
saying they had heard of blue colored limited’s, but had never
seen one.
